  34. Hundreds of Screensavers are available today - but none of them
  35. gives you a chance to do what the Advertising Screensaver allows:

  37. - display your company logo(s) moving around the screen -
  38.   *even animations are possible* !

  40. - define a background of your choice: a single color, 
  41.   faded colors (like some installation programs use them) or
  42.   even another background image (which is probably the best
  43.   way to increase the impression of the moving graphic image).

  150. -FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: -----------------------------------

  152. *) How to display my own animation ?
  153.    There are two ways for defining an animation: using a number
  154.    of images of which each contains a single frame image, or
  155.    using one image which contains all frames of the desired 
  156.    animation.
  157.    Use whatever you like, speed differences are more or less
  158.    negligible (the second method is a little bit faster). 
  159.    Important: if the display should be transparent, the transparent
  160.               area must be colored BLACK.
  161.    a) Using a number of images
  162.       Copy your frame images to a separate directory and name
  163.       them in a way they can be sorted to the correct display order
  164.       (e.g.,Frame001.bmp,Frame002.bmp,..) Then, just point to this
  165.       directory in the configuration dialog ("all pictures in..").
  166.       Ready to go !
  167.    b) Using one "frame container" image
  168.       Just define the number of rows and columns of frames this
  169.       image contains, then select the picture name - that's all !

  171. *) How can I create my own animation ?
  172.    If you have ever seen a snippet of a film tape, you will know
  173.    what you have to create: a number of frames where each frame
  174.    differs a bit from the previous one - if the Advertising 
  175.    Screensaver will display them continuously, a nice animation
  176.    effect will occur. There are a number of tools available for
  177.    this purpose. Note: the images have to be of BMP-,JPG-,ICO-
  178.    or WMF-format.

  180. *) Who can help me with designing animations ?

  200. *) My selected image displays ugly - why ?
  201.    - turn transparency OFF in the configuration screen.
  202.    - if your system isn't configured for using True Color
  203.      (or > 256 colors), this could occur. Just set it to more
  204.      than 256 colors, then it should work.

  206. -HOW TO INSTALL ? ----------------------------------------------
  207.  
  208. 1) simply copy the ADV*.* files to your system directory
  209.    (Window/NT: to your System32 directory).
  210. 2) Right click on the desktop to bring up the Display settings
  211.    dialog.
  212. 3) Select the "Screen Saver" tab.
  213. 4) Use the pull down list to find "Advertiser" and apply it 
  214.    as your new screensaver.
  215. 5) Click "Setup" to open the Configuration window of the saver.
  216. 6) The ZIP file you received contained some demo graphics to 
  217.    give you an impression about the abilities of the Advertiser.
  218.    To ensure that everything works as desired, please verify if
  219.    NONE of the configured filenames are colored RED.
  220.    A red filename indicates that the Screensaver wasn't able to
  221.    find the picture - then you will have to re-select it from
  222.    the directory where you installed your files to.
  223. 7) Save the configuration.

  225. -HOW TO UNINSTALL ? --------------------------------------------

  227. Just delete all files again. Registry pollution: NONE !

  250. I'm suggesting True Color display under Windows 9x or Windows/NT4
  251. (not tested with WinNT v3.51). Results may look strange when used
  252. with 256 color-modes and beyond.
